On Monday, CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones reported that the New England Patriots are kicking off their search for their next general manager.
As New England looks for their next head man, it appears that at least one person isn't interested in the job.
According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Patriots requested to interview Cincinnati Bengals senior personnel executive Trey Brown for the role, and he declined.
Brown, 39, had a brief stint with the Chicago Bears as a cornerback back in 2008 before moving on to his career in the front office.
The Patriots actually gave him his first job in 2010 as a scouting assistant, and he served on Bill Belichick's staff as an area scout from 2011-12.
Brown moved on to the Philadelphia Eagles from 2011-18. He spent 2019 and 2020 in the now-defunct AAF and XFL.
He's been with the Bengals since 2021, starting as a scout and moving up to his current position in 2022.
This isn't a great look for New England to have it publicly known that people are declining the job. They'll have to hope that someone is ready to take on the immense challenge of bringing the Patriots back to contention after some down years.
