The Patriots will try and secure a top seed in the AFC playoff bracket as they host the Dolphins in Week 17 on Sunday
New England (12-3) already clinched the AFC East and will now try and fend off Kansas City for the 2-seed in the AFC. If the Patriots and Chiefs are tied after Sunday's games, Kansas City gets the first-round bye by virtue of the head-to-head tiebreaker. While the lowly Dolphins might not face much of a challenge, the Patriots are just 4-3 in their last seven games and have looked vulnerable at times.

Miami (4-11) started off the season with an abysmal 0-7 record, but seemed to have turned a corner over the last few months. The Dolphins are 4-4 in their last eight games with wins over the Eagles, Bengals, Jets and Colts. First-year coach and former Patriots assistant Brian Flores has Miami trending in the right direction as the season draws to a close.
If the Patriots do miss out on a first-round bye, then they will play on wild-card weekend for the first time since Jan. 10, 2010 when they lost to the Ravens 33-14 in Foxborough, Mass.
