The New England Patriots' 2024 roster is set, and it's lacking talent at both offensive line and wide receiver, two key position groups that could severely impact a game in today's NFL.
While there's not a true No. 1 wideout, the room will still have someone leading their depth chart, and that player will have relevance for Fantasy Football owners. And, that player is DeMario Douglas, who is currently being selected with pick No. 187 (WR67) in PPR leagues.
New England selected Douglas in the sixth round of the 2023 draft out of Liberty University, and as a rookie, he made a name for himself. The young wide receiver caught 49 passes for 561 yards in 14 games, making him the most productive rookie receiver during the Bill Belichick era.
Now, in Alex Van Pelt's offense and with Jacoby Brissett at quarterback, Douglas should have an even bigger impact in his second season. We've already seen that Brissett looks his way pretty frequently on the practice field, and that took the offense from unwatchable to grotesque.
Will Douglas finish as a top-10 fantasy wide receiver in most leagues? No, probably not. However, he can be a productive option in PPR that could help some owners win their matchups and make the postseason.
