Cam Newton shares the benefits of a plant-based diet in a new commercial for PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals).
The New England Patriots quarterback has been vegan since February 2019. Veganism is a type of vegetarian diet that excludes meat, eggs, dairy products and all other animal-derived products.
"I've seen such a remarkable change in the way my body responds to the food that I eat," Newton said in the video.

"A person may ask, 'How do you get your protein?'" Newton said. "You get it in the same way that they get it, know what I'm saying? The more cleaner, more fresher way."
In the commercial, the 6-5, 245-pound quarterback shares his recipe for the perfect meatless burger. He also explains that it takes discipline to follow the plant-based diet and requires eating on a schedule.
Newton isn't the only professional athlete who has decided to follow a vegan diet. Kansas City Chiefs safety Tyrann Mathieu, New York Jets running back Le'Veon Bell and former Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving have all made the switch to veganism.
