The New England Patriots may have added some talented players at wide receiver this offseason, but they're still looking for a game-changer at the position.
On Tuesday, one might've made himself available, as NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported that the San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk officially requested a trade.
NFL insider Josina Anderson almost immediately followed that up with another report stating that the Patriots reached out to the 49ers sometime in the last few weeks inquiring about Aiyuk.
While New England was told, at that time, that San Francisco wasn't interested in trading the wideout, things may have changed.
If the 49ers are willing to take calls on Aiyuk now, the Patriots have to be in because they have the money and trade capital to get it done.
Aiyuk's addition would make life significantly easier for both Jacoby Brissett and Drake Maye in 2024 and beyond.
In 16 games last season, he recorded 75 receptions for 1,342 yards and seven scores.
