The tables are flipped for what feels like the first time in decades as Buffalo looks to defend its position atop the AFC East against a struggling New England team trying to win its first game since September.
Cam Newton will try to jumpstart the 2-4 Patriots after being benched last week in a 33-6 loss to San Francisco. Since Newton passed for 397 yards against Seattle in Week 2, the former NFL MVP has yet to throw more than 162 yards in a game and has just one touchdown. Turnovers have been an issue for New England with Newton tossing 5 interceptions in his last two games, while the team has nine over the course of its last three.
While Sean McDermott is yet to record a win over the Patriots in any of his six tries, the Bills (5-2) could finally help him cross that item off the bucket list thanks to a breakout year Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs. Allen ranks fourth in passing yards with 2,018 yards, and Diggs ranks fourth in receiving with 603 yards. The Bills have been inconsistent on the ground with Devin Singletary and Zack Moss, ranking 29th in the NFL in overall rushing attack, but may find more success this week against one of the worst rushing defenses in the league.
This is the first of two meetings this season between the teams, with the second game occurring in Foxboro on "Monday Night Football" in Week 16. Including each of the last three seasons, Bill Belichick has swept Buffalo 15 times.
