NFL insider suggests the Patriots could make multiple first-round trades in the draft image

Just a few days away from the 2024 NFL draft, no one seems completely convinced of what the New England Patriots will do with their third overall pick in this year's selection process.

Obviously, they'll have an opportunity to select one of the draft's top three quarterbacks after the Chicago Bears and Washington Commanders make their picks, but there's a chance that they aren't in love with whoever is left.

ESPN's NFL Insider Adam Schefter recently put out an article breaking down some information and speculation he's heard leading up to Thursday's draft. In the post, Schefter reports that the team has been fielding calls from other franchises like the Minnesota Vikings who have attempted to move up, but it would take a big offer for them to move out.

Schefter believes that if New England were to trade out, they'd consider trading back up to get a guy they like.

"But many are waiting to see how the Patriots value Maye vs. J.J. McCarthy (Michigan) and whether New England could make a play like the Cardinals, who made two trades in Round 1 a year ago. At the NFL owners meetings last month, team owner Robert Kraft said this: "One way or another, I'd like to see us get a top-rate, young quarterback."

If the Patriots opt to trade out of No. 3, they could follow a similar path as Arizona to get a quarterback they covet."

This may be a smart move for the Patriots, but they have to be confident that they can get someone or a specific player that they really like. They'll be able to add some extra draft capital and still end up with whoever it is they want.

Again, they have to be careful. They can't get greedy and risk missing out on whoever they have their eyes on.
