Patrick Mahomes record vs. Raiders: Why Las Vegas trolled QB with Kermit puppet and how Chiefs star responded

The Raiders were toadily having fun at training camp on Thursday as they trolled Patrick Mahomes with a custom-made Kermit the Frog puppet.

NFL training camp is underway with preseason action just a few days away, so Las Vegas is re-igniting up the AFC West rivalry with Mahomes and the Chiefs.

Mahomes has spent his entire career with Kansas City, so he played Las Vegas twice a year for the past six seasons. It's a one-sided affair, especially considering playoff success.

Nonetheless, the Raiders aren't backing down from the two-time MVP. And that could prove to be a mistake after Mahomes responded Friday.

The Sporting News breaks down why the Raiders trolled Mahomes and how the two sides have fared against each other.

Why Raiders trolled Patrick Mahomes with Kermit puppet

Teams allow a select number of fans to attend training camp, and one fan brought Kermit to Thursday's practice.

Kermit found his way to some of the Raiders players, which is where the viral video began. It wasn't the players' creation, but they still had fun with the puppet.

The fan dressed Kermit in a mini Mahomes jersey with the quarterback's curly hair on top. Players jokingly said "I'm here," mocking Mahomes' voice that many say sounds like Kermit.

The video shows Raiders safety Trey Taylor putting the Kermit puppet on his hand.

As a result of this trolling, fans believe Mahomes will have a historic game in the Chiefs vs. Raiders first matchup this year. And it does seem like it's added motivation for him. The QB brushed off the attempt by Las Vegas, but he did hint at what might happen down the line.

"It’ll get handled when it gets handled," Mahomes said.

Perhaps Mahomes will do his own trolling if he dominates that contest.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid was also asked about the jab from their AFC West rival. The three-time Super Bowl champion coach also didn't seem fazed by the video.

"We don't spend a lot of time here with puppets," Reid said.

Patrick Mahomes record vs. Raiders

It's a one-sided rivalry between the two AFC West teams, and it favors Mahomes and the Chiefs. Since Mahomes took over as Kansas City's starting quarterback in 2018, the quarterback is 10-2 against the Raiders.

Mahomes has won three Super Bowls, all of which have come in the past four seasons. He's aiming for the three-peat this year.

In fact, Mahomes won the 2022 Super Bowl in Allegiant Stadium, the Raiders' home stadium. The two-time MVP has won more playoff games in Allegiant Stadium than the Raiders have since they moved to Las Vegas.

Here's a breakdown of Mahomes' stats in each game against the Raiders throughout his career.
