Packers vs. Bears results: Green Bay defense stifles Mitchell Trubisky, Chicago in low-scoring opener image

The Bears and Packers opened the NFL's 100th season Thursday night at Soldier Field, but it's not clear their offenses got the memo. In a game that had 17 punts, Green Bay took home a 10-3 victory despite being outgained by Chicago and converting fewer first downs.

The only touchdown of the game came early in the second quarter. Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers lobbed a ball into the end zone, and tight end Jimmy Graham fended off his defender to come down with an 8-yard score. Graham made his catch a few plays after Rodgers found wide reciever Marquez Valdes-Scantling for a 47-yard completion.

Hours later, with his trailing by a touchdown and about two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky lofted a prayer of his own into the end zone. Former Chicago safety Adrian Amos ranged over and reeled it in for an interception, all but sealing a win in Green Bay's first game under coach Matt LaFleur.

The Bears' defense forced a three-and-out to give Trubisky and the offense another chance, but the Packers picked up their fifth sack of the game to end the drive.

Chicago's defense was stellar, holding Green Bay to 213 total yards and sacking Rodgers five times. The Packers were almost as stingy, allowing 254 yards to Trubisky and the rest of the Bears' offense.

Sporting News tracked live scoring updates and highlights from Packers vs. Bears to open the NFL's 2019 season. See how it unfolded in real time below.

Packers vs. Bears final score, highlights

Packers: 10
Bears: 3

11:30 p.m.: FINAL: Packers 10, Bears 3.  The defenses were very good. Aaron Rodgers, as he is known to do, made enough plays to get the win. Mitchell Trubisky and the Bears did not. Pour one out for Chicago's defense.

11:28 p.m.: The Packers will win. Trubisky passes for a couple of yards on first down, throws incomplete on second and third and then is sacked by Za'Darius Smith.

11:24 p.m.: The Bears' defense, God bless 'em, forces a three-and-out. Trubisky and the offense will get the ball back on their own 14 with 1:34 to go and a timeout.

11:18 p.m.:  On third-and-10, Trubisky lobs a pass into double coverage in the end zone and is intercepted. Remarkably, that's the first turnover of the game. It was an ugly one, and it takes us to the two-minute warning. The Bears have all three timeouts, so it's not over yet.

11:17 p.m.: The Bears' offense has woken up from its slumber. Chicago is in the red zone.

11:05 p.m.: FIELD GOAL, PACKERS. The first points in 37 minutes. Chicago trails by a touchdown with 5:15 to play. Packers 10, Bears 3.

10:55 p.m.: Chicago could not convert the first-and-40.

10:50 p.m.: Chicago faces a first-and-40.

Third quarter: Packers 7, Bears 3

10:39 p.m.: A deep incompletion from Rodgers on third-and-long sends us to the fourth quarter. Nobody scored in the third.

10:32 p.m.: The Bears go for it on fourth-and-10 from the Packers' 33, realizing it's unclear whether their offense will get back on that side of the field tonight. Trubisky is pressured, leaves the pocket and is brought down after gaining 3 yards. Green Bay takes over.

10:15 p.m.: The Bears' pass rush has come to play. It has sacked Rodgers four times, each time on third down. Khalil Mack doesn't have any tackles for loss, but he has caused plenty of problems.

10:10 p.m.:  The first big play of the second half is ... a pass interference. Bears linebacker Roquan Smith is called for knocking over Graham downfield, and it's a 38-yard penalty that puts the Packers in business.

Halftime: Packers 7, Bears 3

9:50 p.m.: Some halftime stats.

Aaron Rodgers: 13 for 20 passing, 137 yards, one touchdown.

Mitch Trubisky: 10 for 16 passing, 73 yards.

Jimmy Graham: Three receptions, 30 yards, one touchdown

Packers total yards: 119

Bears total yards: 98

9:47 P.M.: HALFTIME. A failed Packers Hail Mary closes an uneventful half; there were 10 combined punts, and the Bears finished with 98 yards of offense. Each team has three sacks and no turnovers. Rodgers' 47-yard pass was the highlight.

9:33 p.m.: The two-minute warning hits with the Packers facing a second-and-7 from their 37.

9:29 p.m.: If you like offense, you are watching the wrong game. Seven combined first downs and neither team is above 100 yards as we creep under three minutes remaining in the first half.

9:08 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN, PACKERS. A 47-yard pass to Marquez Valdes-Scantling jump-starts Rodgers and the Green Bay offense, which scores a few plays later on a jump ball that Jimmy Graham pulls down. Packers 7, Bears 3.

9:05 p.m.: Green Bay used a timeout immediately out of a TV timeout, and Aaron Rodgers throws a 47-yard bomb to get Green Bay into positive yardage for the game.

First quarter: Bears 3, Packers 0

9 p.m.: The first quarter comes to a close as the Bears continue to attack the Packers with the run. Trubisky is 3-for-6 for 12 yards, while the Bears have 36 rushing yards. Green Bay has -12 total yards.

8:47 p.m. FIELD GOAL, BEARS. Green Bay couldn't prevent Chicago's rushing attack from advancing into field goal range, and Eddy Pineiro's much-awaited debut is an uneventful 38-yard conversion. His ensuing kickoff goes out of bounds, though. Bears 3, Packers 0.

8:29 p.m.: Mitchell Trubisky picks up a key third-down conversion with his legs as the Bears move into Packers territory.

8:25 p.m.: The Packers go three-and-out to start the season, with the Bears stuffing one run, forcing an incompletion and then sacking Rodgers.
