The Packers had signed former Bears safety Adrian Amos and used their 21st overall pick in April's draft on former Maryland safety Darnell Savage Jr., moving Jones down the depth chart and likely prompting his desire to be dealt.
Jones, who turns 25 next month, was a second-round selection of the Packers in the 2017 draft. He skipped a portion of the team's offseason program and had been absent from practice for nearly two weeks with an undisclosed illness.
He made 12 starts in 29 games for Green Bay, racking up 126 total tackles and 3 sacks.
