The Miami Dolphins added some much-needed depth and even more speed to their wide receivers room on Friday, with the team reportedly set to sign veteran wideout Odell Beckham Jr.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Beckham, who took less money to play in Miami, signed a one-year deal worth up to $8.25 million. However, as is always the case, the devil is in the details.
Per ESPN's Marcel Louis-Jacques, Beckham's deal is worth a base of $3 million and is loaded with incentives that can get it up to that $8.25 million, making it a very friendly deal for Miami.
And that comes as no surprise considering Beckham Jr. is in his aged 32 season, has a history of serious injuries and is coming off a year in which he finished with 565 yards and three touchdowns over 14 games. It is important to note, though, that Beckham was coming back from a full year off as he recovered from a torn ACL.
Adding to that, Beckham will be no better than the No. 3 option in Miami's pass attack as long as Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle are both healthy.
At the end of the day, this is fantastic deal for Miami. Beckham Jr. is a great third option to have handy and he didn't cost much. Further, he'll have to earn just about every penny he makes on his new deal.
