Titans fans wanting to buy a Julio Jones jersey now know what number they'll need to look for.
Tennessee tweeted on Tuesday that Jones will be wearing No. 2 when he suits up for the team in the 2021 season.

The announcement puts to rest the speculation on the all-important number. Jones wore No. 11 with the Falcons, but when offered the number by fellow wideout A.J. Brown, Jones turned it down.

Some, like AL.com, speculated if Jones might wear No. 8, given that it was the number he wore while he played college football for Alabama. Jones' choice eliminates the possibility that Titans running back Derrick Henry, another former member of the Crimson Tide, would return to his old collegiate No. 2.
When Henry joined Tennessee, he was not allowed to wear No. 2 and turned instead to wearing No. 22 due to the NFL's restrictions on jersey numbers by position. However, in April, the NFL approved a rule to provide more flexibility. Based on the new rule, running backs can wear any number between 1-49 or 80-89, the same range for wide receivers.
According to a report from The Tennessean (Nashville, Tenn.), only former kicker Rob Bironas has previously worn No. 2 in team history. Bironas' 1,032 points rank second all-time in Tennessee history.
