Nick Foles injury update: Jaguars QB 'loosely targeting' Week 11 for return, report says image

Nick Foles is hoping to be back on the field by mid-November.

The 30-year-old Jaguars quarterback is "loosely targeting a Week 11 return," according to a report from ESPN, which cites an unidentified league source.

Foles broke his collarbone in Jacksonville's season-opening 40-26 loss to the Chiefs and underwent surgery earlier this week. He was placed on injured reserve with a designation to return.

“It’s unfortunate but at the same time I’m going to stay positive,” Foles told reporters after the game (via the team's official website). “Sometimes things don’t happen like we expect them to, but we just have to have faith that it’s for a reason. I’m still grateful I get to be a part of this team. I’ll have surgery tomorrow to get this thing rolling and trust the good Lord for healing and be ready to roll when I am.”

Foles signed a four-year, $88 million contract with the Jaguars in March after spending the last two seasons with the Eagles. He was replaced under center in Jacksonville by Gardner Minshew, who threw for 275 yards and two touchdowns against Kansas City.

"I had a lot of confidence going in there," Minshew said earlier this week, via ESPN. "(Center) Brandon Linder made sure that I was comfortable. Made me feel like they trusted me and I trusted them. That's where you start really building big things. ... Not happy with the circumstances that happened, obviously.

"It breaks my heart to see what happened to Nick, because he's been one of the best people I've ever played with (and) had the pleasure to be around. To see him go down like that, it was awful. But I know he's going to be there with me and we're going to have this team where we need to go."

The Jaguars also acquired backup Joshua Dobbs from the Steelers in exchange for a fifth-round pick.

Jacksonville will face the Texans in Houston on Sunday.
