Ross Tucker: Terrelle Pryor's value is high on the trading block image

Terrelle Pryor should draw real interest around the NFL if, as Pro Football Talk has reported, the Oakland Raiders are shopping their former starting quarterback, Sporting News NFL analyst Ross Tucker says.

The Raiders acquired Matt Schaub from the Houston Texans last month to be their starter,. Second-year quarterback Matt McGloin likely will be the backup — making Pryor expendable, after he started nine games last season.

Tucker points out that Blaine Gabbert, a flop for three years with the Jacksonville Jaguars, brought a sixth-round pick in trade with the San Francisco 49ers last month. Gabbert is expected to be a backup.

So, Pryor should be worth at least that much on the market.

"He has a similar physical skill set to Colin Kaepernick [the 49ers' starter]. He's shown the ability to give his team a chance to win, a team in Oakland that was not very good,'' Tucker said of Pryor. "Blaine Gabbert almost never gave the Jacksonville Jaguars a chance to win.

"That's all you want from a backup quarterback, a guy that gives you a shot to win those games, even if it's unconventional. I don't care,'' he said.
