NFL standings after Week 18

AFC playoff picture

1. Kansas City Chiefs (14-3), champions, AFC West. The Chiefs clinched the top seed along with home-field advantage and the lone bye with a win over the Raiders on Saturday. They will host the AFC championship game against every team other than the No. 2 Bills, who also won at home over the Patriots on Sunday.

2. Buffalo Bills (13-3), champions, AFC East. The Bills locked up the No. 2 seed with their strong second-half performance that earned a victory over the Patriots. That means they'll stay at home until they're eliminated or face the Chiefs in a neutral site AFC championship game. They will open by hosting the division runner-up Dolphins for a second time.

3. Cincinnati Bengals (12-4), champions, AFC North. The Bengals made sure they will host a game as division winners, which will now be a home rematch against the Ravens. They stayed a game behind the Bills, whom they are in line to face on the road in the divisional playoffs.

4. Jacksonville Jaguars (9-8), champions, AFC South. The Jaguars clinched the division title with a come-from-behind 20-16 victory over the Titans at home on Saturday. Jacksonville made the postseason in Trevor Lawrence's second year as its QB and Doug Pederson's first as its head coach. They will host the Chargers, whom they beat 38-10 on the road in Week 3, in the wild-card round.

5. Los Angeles Chargers (10-7), second place, AFC West. The Chargers got locked into the top wild-card position after the Ravens lost, making up for last season's shortcoming in Week 18. After playing their starters into the fourth quarter but losing to the Broncos on Sunday, the Chargers will try to avenge their Week 3 home loss with a trip to Jacksonville to begin the playoffs.

6. Baltimore Ravens (10-7), second place, AFC North. The Ravens didn't have a healthy Lamar Jackson and rested other key players, including backup QB Tyler Huntley, in Sunday's loss at the Bengals, knowing they will need to play the division champs for third time next week in Cincinnati.

7. Miami Dolphins (9-8), second place, AFC East. The Dolphins ended their five-game losing streak in ugly fashion with a gritty 11-6 win over the Jets at home. They earned the last wild-card spot and a third matchup with the Bills, thanks to Patriots losing the Bills and having the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Steelers, whom they beat at home in Week 7.

Who's out?

8. Pittsburgh Steelers (9-8), third place, AFC North
9. New England Patriots (8-9), third place, AFC East
10. Cleveland Browns (7-10), last place, AFC North
11. Tennessee Titans (7-10), second place, AFC South
12. Cleveland Browns (7-10), last place, AFC North
13. Las Vegas Raiders (6-11), third place, AFC West
14. Denver Broncos (5-12-1), last place, AFC West
15. Indianapolis Colts (4-12-1), third place, AFC South
16. Houston Texans (3-13-1), last place, AFC South

The Steelers and Patriots were alive until Week 18, when the Dolphins won to take the last wild-card spot. The Titans were eliminated in the de facto AFC South title game on Saturday. The Texans rallied to beat the Colts with a miracle win to lose the No. 1 overall draft pick.

NFC playoff picture

1. Philadelphia Eagles (14-3), champions, NFC East. The Eagles, with Jalen Hurts back at quarterback, held off the No. 6 seed Giants, who were resting a lot of their key players, to finally win the division and lock up NFC home-field advantage and the lone bye by finishing one game ahead of the 49ers. They will wait to see whom they face in Philadelphia in the divisional playoffs.

2. San Francisco 49ers (13-4), champions, NFC West. The 49ers fell short of the top seed but by routing the Cardinals for the 11th consecutive victory, they stayed ahead of the Vikings for this seed by a conference-record tiebreaker, meaning they will host the third and final NFC wild-card team, either the Seahawks or the Packers.

3. Minnesota Vikings (13-4), champions, NFC North. The Vikings had an easy time facing a shorthanded and injury-riddled Bears team in Chicago, but their win didn't change their position with the 49ers also winning. They will host the Giants in rematch of a game they won, 27-24, at home in Week 16.

4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (8-9), champions, NFC South. The Buccaneers clinched the division with their home win over the Panthers in Week 17. They were locked into this final division-winning seed no matter what happens on Sunday, but ended up losing to fall below .500 after resting players for most of the game, which Tom Brady started. They will host the Cowboys, whom they beat in Dallas to start the season in Week 1.

5. Dallas Cowboys (12-5), second place, NFC East. The Cowboys stumbled against the Commanders as they may have lost some motivation in the middle of the game when it was apparent the Eagles and 49ers would win ahead of them. They need to clean up some offensive mistakes and defensive lapses ahead of facing Brady on the road in the wild-card round.

6. New York Giants (9-7-1), third place, NFC East. The Giants clinched their wild-card berth behind the Eagles and Cowboys with their home win over the Colts in Week 17. They were locked into this second wild-card seed no matter what happened on Sunday, which was an expected road loss to the Eagles while resting Daniel Jones, Saquon Barkley and other key players. The Giants now will try to beat the Vikings in a road rematch.

7. Seattle Seahawks (9-8), second place, NFC West. The Seahawks, after rallying to beat the Rams at home in overtime on Sunday afternoon, clinched the final wild-card spot when the Lions beat the Packers on Sunday night. The Seahawks are moving to play the 49ers for a third time as they own the head-to-head tiebreaker, thanks to a Week 4 at Detroit.

Who's out?

8. Detroit Lions (9-8), second place, NFC North
9. Washington Commanders (8-8-1), last place, NFC East
10. Green Bay Packers (8-9), third place, NFC North
11. Carolina Panthers (7-10), second place, NFC South
12. New Orleans Saints (7-10), third place, NFC South
13. Atlanta Falcons (7-10), last place, NFC South
14. Los Angeles Rams (5-12), third place, NFC West
15. Arizona Cardinals (4-13), last place, NFC West
16. Chicago Bears (3-14), last place, NFC North

The Commanders were eliminated before Week 18, while the Lions were eliminated when the Seahawks beat the Rams. The Panthers beat the Saints to make it a three-way tie behind the South-winning Buccaneers. The Bears lost badly to the Vikings and were rewarded with their first No. 1 overall draft pick since 1947.
