Playoff spots are on the line for three of the four teams who play Saturday. The Cincinnati Bengals take on the Pittsburgh Steelers in an AFC North showdown, while the Buffalo Bills face the depleted Los Angeles Chargers with a new interim head coach.
The Bengals, Steelers and Bills all have shots to make it to postseason, but would need wins today to better their claim. The lowly Chargers, though, are purely playing for pride and a better draft pick.
Cincinnati's comeback with over the Minnesota Vikings in Week 15 vaulted the Bengals up to the No. 6 seed with an 8-6 record. Pittsburgh loss to the Indianapolis Colts, meanwhile, dropped them out of the playoff field with a 7-7 record. The Bills are also currently on the outside looking in with an 8-6 record and would still need some help to wiggle their way into the playoffs, even if they win Saturday.
Three of the four teams playing today will also feature backup quarterbacks.
Jake Browning gets another start under center in place of Joe Burrow for the Bengals, and he's looked sensational. The fifth-year pro is 3-1 in four starts, won his past three games and has completed 71.97 percent of his passes for 1,180 yards, six touchdowns and three interceptions. He's also rushed for two touchdowns.
Mason Rudolph will get the nod for the Steelers in this game if Kenny Pickett can't go, head coach Mike Tomlin announced Monday. Rudolph hasn't started a game since 2021, but came in at the end of the Steelers' Week 15 loss to the ineffective Mitchell Trubisky.

The Chargers will go with Easton Stick once more despite a dreadful NFL starting debut on Thursday night against the Las Vegas Raiders. Stick completed 23-of-32 passing attempts for 257 yards and three touchdowns, but turned the ball over three times – two fumbles and a pick-six – and didn't score until the third quarter when Los Angeles already trailed by 49 points.
Josh Allen is the only Week 1 starter among the quartet, and he's coming off one of his weirdest games ever. The Bills beat the Dallas Cowboys handedly in Week 15, but Allen only needed to complete 7-of-15 attempts for 94 yards and a touchdown to win the game. He also rushed eight times for 24 yards and a touchdown.
