The first two games on the NFL schedule for Week 16 will tell many of the teams still alive in the AFC playoff picture what they need to know.
First, the Titans play the Redskins at home Saturday. The Texans, still hoping to clinch the AFC South, will be watching carefully. As will the AFC wild-card hopeful Ravens, Colts, Dolphins and Browns. And speaking of the Ravens, they also play Saturday, at night in Los Angeles against the red-hot Chargers.
While those games will set the stage for what should be a wild week in the AFC playoff picture, two interconference games Sunday — Steelers at Saints and Chiefs at Seahawks — will impact the standings in a big way to close the week. (The Monday-night Week 16 finale in Oakland? Not so much.)
