If you're looking for reasons to be excited about the Seattle Seahawks going into the 2024 NFL season, look no further than the booth - where you'll see former University of Washington offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb calling the plays this year. Regarded as one of the game's top offensive minds, Grubb has a chance to lead what could be the team's first elite offense in almost two decades.

The most-important element of Grubb's new gig will be getting the most out of Seattle's veteran starting quarterback Geno Smith. For what it's worth, the experts are almost universally expecting good things to come from this combo. Here's what quarterback guru Derrik Klassen from the Athletic had to say about the Grubb/Smith pairing in an appearance on ESPN Seattle Sports radio earlier this week.

“I cannot wait for that marriage, by the way. I think that is one of the coolest that they could have done, because Geno past about the 12-to-15-yard mark is truly one of the best passers in the NFL... He makes two or three throws a game where it doesn’t seem like he has any right to throw the ball, but then he just somehow fits it into a keyhole 25 yards down the field, puts it right in DK Metcalf’s chest. Just the fact that he can make all of those shows is incredible to me, and now you have an offense that is fully leaning into that.”

There are no guarantees in the NFL, but it would come as a surprise if it didn't work out well between these two.

In related news, Smith's team is apparently trying to get the Seahawks to talk about another contract extension. While it seems unlikely given the fact he still has two years left on his current deal, we can't completely rule it out. Seattle could save up to around $9.3 million in cap room in 2024 on an extension for Smith.
