NFL preseason roundup: Jared Goff outplayed by Cowboys' Dak Prescott in L.A. Rams debut image

The Rams are playing football again in Los Angeles after a 21-season hiatus.

Yes, it was technically a preseason game, but the 89,140 rowdy Rams fans that packed the Coliseum weren't treating it like one as every L.A. fan got a taste of what it’s like to have Jared Goff under center on Saturday against the Cowboys.

Unfortunately for the No. 1 overall pick, it wasn't pretty. Goff completed 4 of 9 passes for 38 yards and an interception. While he played just 13 offensive snaps, Goff doesn't look NFL-ready under center.

Instead it was another rookie on the opposite sideline that stole the show.

Cowboys QB Dak Prescott completed all but two of his 12 passes for 139 yards and two crisp touchdown passes to Dez Bryant and Terrance Williams.

While Prescott led the Cowboys to two scores, Dallas was on the board before the Mississippi State product took the field as Lucky Whitehead returned the opening kickoff for a 101-yard touchdown.

Despite the Cowboys 24-7 halftime lead, Rams QB Sean Mannion threw three TDs in the second half to rally the Rams for the 28-24 win.

Injury roundup

— Bills coach Rex Ryan said linebacker IK Enemkpali was carted off the field with a "major" knee injury suffered against the Colts.

— The Eagles announced rookie QB Carson Wentz suffered a hairline fracture in his ribs in the Eagles' preseason opener Friday. He's expected to be ready for the regular season.

— Rams coach Jeff Fisher said Goff was forced to exit early after tweaking his non-throwing shoulder. He's not expected to miss any time.

Impact rookies

— Reigning Heisman Trophy winner Derrick Henry rushed 10 times for 74 yards and a touchdown for the Titans.

— Trevone Boykin is currently the leading passer in the preseason (188 yards) after leading the Seahawks to a come-from-behind win over the Chiefs that featured a touchdown  and two-point conversion  with no time left on the clock.

Highlights

Chargers second-year RB Melvin Gordon caught a pass in the flats from Philip Rivers and took it 44-yards to the end zone, finishing off the play with a nice truck-stick move.

Later in the game, new Titans running back DeMarco Murray broke free for an impressive 71-yard touchdown.
