The Chiefs (11-4) will return to the NFL playoffs as AFC West champions for the fourth consecutive year. With one week left in the 2019 NFL regular season, they will end up being seeded in one of three ways going into the playoffs.

The Chiefs are the current No. 3 seed comiing out of their Week 16 game at the Bears. Here are the scenarios for them to finish right where they are or move to No. 2 or No. 4:

If the Chiefs win out to get to 12-4, the best they can do is No. 2 behind the clinched No. 1 Ravens. For that to happen, they need to beat the Chargers at home in Week 17 while the Patriots (12-3), whom they beat, lose to the Dolphins

How the Chiefs keep the AFC's No. 3 seed

If the Chiefs win out to get to 12-4 and the Patriots win in Week 17 to get to 13-3, the Chiefs would stay right where they are.

The Chiefs can also lose to drop to 11-5 and stay at No. 3 behind the Ravens and Patriots, but in that case, they would need the Texans, to whom they lost, to lose to the Titans in Week 17 to be 10-6.

How the Chiefs drop to the AFC's No. 4 seed

The Chiefs losing to the Chargers and the Texans beating the Titans in Week 17 would do this.
