How the mighty have fallen.

It wasn't that long ago that the Seahawks and 49ers were considered two of the most dangerous teams in the NFC. But headed into this week's "Thursday Night Football" matchup, the former NFC West powers find themselves in a struggle to avoid the moniker of worst in the conference.

On one end you have the Seahawks, coming off close losses to the undefeated Bengals and Panthers. Russell Wilson is having a decent season with seven touchdowns and a 68.9 completion percentage, but is the most-sacked quarterback in the league (26). Meanwhile, the 49ers continue to reel from one of the worst offeseasons in history: They're ranked 30th in total offense and 31st in total defense, giving up 26.7 points per game.

The 49ers and Seahawks kick off at 8:25 p.m. ET for "Thursday Night Football" on CBS and the NFL Network.

The scenic city of Seattle will be in flames if the Seahawks come back from Santa Clara with a loss, a 2-5 record and a spot in last place in the NFC West nearly halfway through the season. The 49ers, especially Colin Kaepernick, have looked a lot better late in the last two games. It seems impossible that the Seahawks could fold in the fourth quarter against this team … but they did it against the Lions, so nothing is sacred.  Seahawks, 24-23

As much slack as San Francisco has gotten about being a total mess, it brings the same 2-4 record as Seattle into this game. The ‘Hawks have had the Niners’ number of late, and once again, it will be Wilson over Kaepernick. But after another tough loss and hitting the road on a short week, Pete Carroll’s team will be a little sluggish until striking gold late. Seahawks win 17-13 but fail to cover the spread.

Seahawks at 49ers odds

Line:  Seahawks -6

Total: 42.5

The Linemakers' take:  This spread has moved in the Seahawks’ direction after opening at -4.5, despite them being 1-4-1 ATS on the season. San Francisco has played well in covering the spread the last two weeks, including a 25-20 home win over Baltimore last Sunday as 2.5-point dogs. The OVER is 4-1 in its last five.
