Matt Flynn spent a season and a half finding out how much one spectacular fill-in start was worth to other NFL teams. Now, he's back in his original home in Green Bay.
Flynn, who backed up Aaron Rodgers at quarterback from 2008-11 and for five games last season, is re-signing with the Packers , NFL.com reported Tuesday.
The 28-year-old Flynn started four games last season while Rodgers recovered from a broken collarbone, and finished a fifth game for Scott Tolzein. In Week 15, Flynn led the biggest comeback in franchise history with four second-half touchdown passes in a 37-36 win at Dallas, which had led 26-3 at halftime. Against Minnesota at Lambeau Field in Week 12, he brought the Packers back from a 16-point deficit for a 26-26 tie.
His 480-yard, six-touchdown day in the 2011 season finale, as Rodgers rested for the playoffs, led to a three-year free-agent contract with Seattle for $10 million guaranteed. However, then-rookie Russell Wilson beat him out for the job in training camp; he was traded to the Raiders after the season, lost that job to Terrelle Pryor, was released in October, signed by the Bills and was cut in November.
Flynn then returned to Green Bay, who had lost Rodgers and backup Seneca Wallace to injuries.
