After weeks of a standstill and negotiations, Aaron Rodgers is officially a member of the New York Jets. The Packers traded Rodgers, a 2023 first-round pick (No. 15 overall), and a 2023 fifth-round pick (No. 170 overall) to the Jets for a 2023 first-round pick (No. 13 overall), a 2023 second-round pick (No. 42 overall), a 2023 sixth-round pick (No. 207 overall), and a 2024 conditional second-round pick, which could become a first-round pick if Rodgers plays 65 percent of snaps.
With the Jets finally getting their franchise quarterback in Rodgers, they have a strong chance to compete in a competitive AFC East and AFC next season. We saw the future markets react accordingly to this news as the Jets went from +2500 odds to +1600 odds to win Super Bowl 58. Meanwhile, Rodgers has favorable odds to win his fifth NFL MVP (+1600). If Rodgers led the Jets back to the playoffs in his first year in the Big Apple, he would have a lot of momentum to win his fifth Most Valuable Player trophy.

As for the Packers, they can move officially on from Rodgers and usher in the Jordan Love era. We haven't seen Love, who was drafted in the first round in the 2020 NFL Draft, play or start in many games over his career. In 10 games, the former first-round pick completed 60.2 percent of his passes for 606 yards, three touchdowns, and three interceptions. The oddsmakers are down on the Packers heading into next season, as they believe it's the Lions' or Vikings' division to lose.
Can Love prove the doubters wrong and show fans that the Packers made the right decision drafting him to be the heir apparent? We will find out that answer quickly this season. Below, we'll explore Rodgers and Love's MVP odds for next season and if it's worth betting on either to take home the award.

Aaron Rodgers NFL MVP odds 2023 (+1600)
For Rodgers to take home his fifth MVP, he will have to lead the Jets to playoffs this season, which they haven't done since 2010 under Mark Sanchez. He will also need to have the Jets in contention for the AFC East crown, which they haven't won since '02. However, the good news for him and New York fans is that the Jets have the second-best odds to win the AFC East (+225) behind the defending champion Bills.
Along with accomplishing those feats, Rodgers must have a better statistical season than last year in Green Bay. He completed 64.6 percent of his passes for 3,695 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions (third most in his career). Nevertheless, Rodgers should bounce back this season with Nathaniel Hackett as his offensive coordinator and has a nice complement.
Rodgers will be heading into this season with Garrett Wilson, Allen Lazard, Corey Davis, Mecole Hardman, C.J. Uzomah, and Tyler Conklin at wide receiver and tight end. On paper, it's an upgrade over what Green Bay had at those skill positions. He should be able to throw at least 30 touchdowns, which is what we've seen from him over the past few years.
Outside of his own competitive division, Rodgers will have to navigate a tough 2023 schedule, as the Jets will play the NFC East and AFC West teams. That's no easy task for a team that won seven games last season. If the Jets can go at least .500 or better against those teams, they will be set up for success, but for Rodgers to take home the award, New York will likely need to finish in the top three in the AFC.
Betting advice: Bettors should wait before wagering on Rodgers for MVP. His odds are still juiced right now from the hype surrounding the trade. Let things die down a little bit before considering a wager. History has shown us that when star veteran QBs go to a new team (Tom Brady, Matthew Stafford, Russell Wilson, Peyton Manning), they don't win MVP in their first season.
Jordan Love NFL MVP odds 2023 (+5000)
Love is a long shot to win the league MVP this season, but he could see his odds shift drastically if the Packers get off to a hot start. There are not a ton of expectations for the former first-round pick, who has only made one start in his short NFL career.
The Packers would want Love to be their new franchise quarterback, as he has a $20 million fifth-year option for next season. However, the good news for the 24-year-old signal-caller is he has a decent core of weapons at the skill positions to put up numbers. Second-year wide receiver Christian Watson is a budding star and will be a great potential No. 1 option for the Packers this upcoming season. Green Bay also has a solid running back duo featuring Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon that Love can lean on.
For Love to be a contender for NFL MVP, he needs to lead the Packers to shock everyone and win the NFC North. Surprisingly, Green Bay has the fourth-best odds to win the division (+450) behind Detroit, Minnesota, and Chicago.
Betting advice: Bettors should not wager on Love's odds to win MVP until we see what the Packers do in the NFL Draft and how Love performs in the preseason.
