Future Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady has been looking to own a piece of the Las Vegas Raiders for years now, and one of Brady's former teammates is about to join him in his bid.
Per Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio, Hall of Fame defensive lineman and former New England Patriot and Raider, Richard Seymour, is "close to finalizing a deal to become an owner and limited partner of the Raiders."
Florio states that the goal is for Brady, Seymour and their partners to own 10.4% of the team once everything is said and done. He adds that Seymour's inclusion could "resolve most of the concerns about Brady's bid."
One issue Brady is facing for approval comes from the fact that he's going to start broadcasting games for the league in 2024. However, Florio notes that "parameters have been developed to address the issues that would arise from Brady, as an owner of the Raiders, being involved in meetings and attending practices involving teams that compete with the Raiders," but are not guaranteed to be approved.
Seymour has been very involved with the Raiders of late. Las Vegas actually had him help out in the head-coaching and general manager search the team did this offseason before it settled on Antonio Pierce and Tom Telesco.
Seymour spent eight seasons as Brady's teammate with the Patriots before he played the final four seasons of his career with the Raiders. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2022.
