NFL free agency rumors: Tyrann Mathieu says Russell Wilson 'wants New York' image

Russell Wilson in New York?

According to Tyrann Mathieu, that's where the quarterback wants to go if he can't work something out with the Seahawks.

"Russ wants New York. But you ain’t heard that from T," the Chiefs safety wrote when retweeting a report that Wilson would be fine with staying in Seattle.

It's not the first time New York has been brought up. During a "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" appearance in March, Wilson addressed the rumors of him going to the Giants specifically, but said he didn't think the Seahawks would let him go that easily.

"I'm not sure the Seahawks are going to let me get away," Wilson said. "I love Seattle. Seattle is a special place, been able to win a Super Bowl there, go to two Super Bowls, multiple playoff games and everything else."

Wilson gave the Seahawks an April 15 deadline to work out a new deal, but it was reported last week that there has been "little progress" in negotiations.
