Geno Smith is far from the most talented or the most acclaimed quarterback in the NFL today. However, he remains the best option for the Seahawks heading into the 2024 season, and whoever's in second place (likely Sam Howell) to succeed him is pretty far behind.
Not only has Smith radically improved his game on the field over the last couple of seasons as a starter for the first time since 2014, Smith has become an indispensable leader for Seattle. Here's a behind-the-scenes look from NFL Films last night at Smith demonstrating his leadership on the sidelines with then-rookie wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

If offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb can figure out a way to neutralize the team's pass protection issues Smith may soon be raising his game to a previously-unseen level. We know Smith is fully capable of throwing well against pressure, but we haven't seen what he can do behind a strong offensive line or with a truly-creative offensive playcaller.
Stay tuned.
