The Dallas Cowboys absolutely struck gold when they drafted linebacker Micah Parsons with the No. 12 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Not only has Parsons developed into one of the best defenders in the league, he's widely considered one of the very best players in the entire NFL, regardless of position.
Parsons has been particularly dominant as a pass-rusher over his first three seasons, with the star linebacker tallying 40.5 sacks in that span, including a career-high 14 during the 2023 campaign.
Knowing all that, it comes as no surprise that Parsons made the cut on ESPN's annual list of the top-10 edge rushers in the NFL based on the opinions of coaches, scouts and executives around the league.
Parsons landed at No. 3 on the list behind the Cleveland Browns' Myles Garrett (No. 1) and the Pittsburgh Steelers' T.J. Watt (No. 2), but what was baffling was the fact that one of the people who voted had Parsons as low as No. 7.
That makes zero sense because Parsons has the fourth-most sacks in the league over the past three seasons, and that's with him facing a ridiculous amount of double teams (he faced 167 in 2023, the most among edge rushers).
Surprisingly, Parsons didn't take issue with whoever ranked him at No. 7, but rather the number of double teams the article said he faced.
There no way it was 167 double teams ! Maybe 500! Mf can’t fwm man! It’s up this year on mommas! 2 weeks! https://t.co/dSLTk3yJqD

Parsons is entering the fourth year of his five-year rookie contract in 2024 and the time to pay him is rapidly approaching. While we don't know when that time will come, we do know he won't be the seventh-highest paid player at his position.
