The Johnny Football-Jerry Jones marriage rumors continue to pick up steam as next week's NFL draft draws closer.
In an interview to be aired Tuesday night on Cleveland's WKNR-850 AM radio, CBS lead NFL play-by-play announcer Jim Nantz added to the growing number of opinions that the Dallas Cowboys will come out of the draft with Manziel, one of the top three quarterbacks in the draft.
“I’ve heard this rumor for a month -- the Cowboys will figure out a way to get Manziel,'' Nantz told host Tony Grossi, according to the station website.
Nantz apparently gave no details about where he heard it and from whom. Speculation about the Cowboys and Jones taking Manziel with the 16th pick if he's there picked up speed last Wednesday.
"Wherever Manziel goes'' Nantz added, "there is going to be more clamoring about Johnny Manziel than there would be about Blake Bortles going No. 1 or (Jadeveon) Clowney going No. 1, or anyone else. This is a guy that there’s just a tremendous interest in everything he does.''
Few have ruled out Jones, the Cowboys owner who is drawn to drama and buzz, making the move even with Tony Romo having signed an extension worth $55 million guaranteed a year ago.
