NFL Draft could expand to four days, Goodell says image

First there was Draft Day. Now, it's Draft Weekend. Coming soon ... Draft Week?

The NFL may be considering taking a step closer to that, according to Jeff Darlington of the NFL, who tweeted that idea after a conversation he had with commissioner Roger Goodell Friday.

The commissioner also told Darlington that the NFL is "considering many options, both for date & place,'' and is unsure whether it will stay in May or move back to its usual April date. The draft was bumped up to May this year because of a scheduling conflict with New York's Radio City Music Hall, but the NFL kept the option open to staying in that month.

The first round of the draft has taken place on a Thursday night since 2010; that was the first year the seven rounds were spread over three days.

Goodell is in Tampa for a fundraiser for a charter school started by former Buccaneer and newly-voted Hall of Famer Derrick Brooks. Darlington reported that Bucs head coach Lovie Smith told him and Goodell that, coming in with a new team, he liked the extra two weeks of getting to know his roster before the draft.
