NFL Draft 2023 Odds: Who will the Philadelphia Eagles draft with their first-round pick? image

With the 2023 NFL Draft only a few weeks away, it's a perfect time to check out the latest odds on who the Eagles could take with their first pick. Bettors across the country (depending on the state) can bet on that prop and others, such as who will be the first overall pick, which quarterback/or wide receivers will be drafted first, etc. It's an excellent way for fans to stay involved with the draft and give them a chance to make some cash over the three-day event.

The Super Bowl 57 runner-ups -- the Philadelphia Eagles, are one of four teams with two picks in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft. The Eagles' first selection will be at No. 10 overall, thanks to the C.J. Gardner-Johnson trade last offseason from the Saints, and their second pick will be at No. 30 overall. Philadelphia had two first-round picks last year but moved one of them in a trade for star wide receiver A.J. Brown.

The Eagles will be looking to find two impact players in the first round after losing a lot of talented players in free agency on both sides of the ball (Javon Hargrave, Isaac Seumalo, Miles Sanders, T.J. Edwards, Kyzir White, and Chauncey Gardner-Johnson). However, Philadelphia found some quality vet replacements, signing QB Marcus Mariota, RB Rashaad Penny, LB Nicholas Morrow, CB Greedy Williams, and S Terrell Edmunds.

Lastly, the Eagles also re-signed future Hall of Famer offensive lineman Jason Kelce, running back Boston Scott, defensive tackle Fletcher Cox, defensive end Brandon Graham, cornerback James Bradberry, and gave cornerback Darius Slay an extension. Many fans and draft analysts thought the team would address the CB spot at No. 10 overall, but they might not need to with Slay and Bradberry under contract for multiple years.

Therefore, which position group should the Eagles target with the 10th overall pick in the 2023 draft? Let's look at the latest odds on Sports Interaction on the position of the Eagles' first drafted player.

According to Sports Interaction, the oddsmakers believe the Eagles will take a defensive lineman with their first pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. That would not be a surprise because Philly loves to spend early-round picks in the trenches. Last year, the Eagles used their first-round pick on Georgia defensive tackle Jordan Davis and then drafted offensive lineman Cam Jurgens in the second round.

Since 2013, the Eagles have selected a defensive lineman in the first round three times (2022 -- Jordan Davis, 2017 -- Derek Barnett, and 2014 -- Marcus Smith). Looking forward to this year's draft, the Eagles could take Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter if he falls that far. Carter, Davis, and Williams would give the Eagles a formidable defensive tackle rotation for the short and long term. If Philadelphia wants to address the edge, they could take Clemson's Myles Murphy, Georgia's Nolan Smith, or Iowa's Lukas Van Ness.

However, if Carter and Murphy both get selected before the No. 10 overall pick, the Eagles could jump at the opportunity to take a cornerback (+287) as it's a star-studded class with Illinois' Devon Witherspoon, Oregon's Christian Gonzalez, Penn State's Joey Porter Jr., and South Carolina's Cam Smith. But they don't need those guys with Bradberry and Slay in Philly for the foreseeable future.

If the Eagles don't see a defensive lineman they like and pass on taking a corner, don't be surprised to see them move back in the first round to acquire more draft capital. In that scenario, Philly could take a running back (+1251), likely Bijan Robinson, who many Eagles fans love. Robinson is the best running back in this year's draft and could be a generational player. He would be an instant starter in Philly and make their running game more explosive. However, Eagles fans and bettors must remember that the team does not draft running backs in the first round.

Betting advice: The Eagles love to build in the trenches, as it has helped them sustain a level of success over multiple years. Therefore, we'll side with the public and wager on Philly to take a defensive lineman (-143) with their first-round pick. It's tough to envision the Eagles drafting a running back or cornerback, even though they could land one of the best CBs in the class.
