The Seattle Seahawks regressed slightly on offense last season, particularly in the running game. After rushing for 120.1 yards per contest in 2022, the team averaged just 92.9 yards on the ground in 2023. However, Seattle's future remains bright with Kenneth Walker III and Zach Charbonnet in the backfield.
Walker rushed for 905 yards and eight touchdowns last season. While the former Michigan State standout was slightly less productive on the ground in his sophomore campaign, he was more effective as a receiver. Charbonnet chipped in 462 rushing yards and one touchdown, adding another 209 receiving yards.
Don't forget about second-year running back Kenny McIntosh, either. The former Georgia Bulldog has a ton of upside as a versatile No. 3 option. So where does this group rank going into 2024?
ESPN's Mike Clay ranked the position groups for each team in his 2024 season projections. Seattle's running back room was listed among the NFL's top units, landing at No. 4 in Clay's rankings. Walker is projected to lead the team with 1,012 rushing yards and eight touchdowns.
Charbonnet is projected for 754 all-purpose yards and four touchdowns. McIntosh's projections were more modest but Clay clearly sees the upside. The three running back rooms listed ahead of Seattle in ESPN's rankings were the San Francisco 49ers, the Detroit Lions and the Atlanta Falcons.
