New York Giants rookie tight end Theo Johnson will return to practice from the PUP list, head coach Brian Daboll told reporters Sunday.
Johnson was placed on the PUP list when the rookies reported to camp earlier in the month due to a hip injury. However, he passed his physical and will return to practice Sunday.
Johnson was one of the stars during the spring workouts, and he should be in the competition for a strong role in Daboll's offense.
An uber-athletic tight end, Johnson was a fourth-round pick with the Giants in the 2024 NFL Draft. He has the upside to develop into an every-down starter if he reaches his ceiling.
The Giants currently have Daniel Bellinger and Lawrence Cager leading the way at the tight end position while Jack Stoll and Chris Manhertz battle for a roster spot.
Johnson should be expected to mix in with the first-team offense at some point now that he's passed his physical.
