Former New York Giants quarterback Colt McCoy announced his retirement from the NFL after 12 years in the league.
McCoy spent one season with the Giants in 2020, serving as the backup to Daniel Jones. When Jones missed time in the middle of the season, McCoy made two starts. He completed 60.6% of his passes for 375 yards, one touchdown and one interception.
With McCoy officially retiring from the NFL, he will be joining NBC Sports as a Big Ten football analyst.
McCoy will serve as "a game analyst and also appear on the Big Ten College Countdown studio show," according to Awful Announcing.
A legend in the College Football realm, McCoy enjoyed a prolific career at Texas, setting several records. He wound up being a third-round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft with the Cleveland Browns.
McCoy made 21 starts in his first two seasons with the Browns before becoming a backup in his third season. He was traded to the San Francisco 49ers ahead of the 2013 season.
McCoy also spent time with the Washington Redskins, which is where he spent the majority of his career (2014-2019) as a backup. During that span, he made seven starts across five seasons.
After spending the season with the Giants, McCoy finished his career as a backup with the Arizona Cardinals (2021-2022).
