The first week of organized team activities (OTA) has come and gone for the New York Giants.
Even though OTAs don't allow for live contact or pads being worn, it is the first time the full team is together during the offseason.
After taking a look at the biggest takeaways from the first week of OTAs, here's a look at the top standouts for the Giants:
Giants OTAs: Top standouts from Week 1
WR Malik Nabers
The team's top draft pick at No. 6 overall has gotten off to a fast start. The LSU product comes into the NFL with rave reviews of having the upside to be a true alpha WR1 in any offense, and the Giants are hoping he'll have that type of impact in East Rutherford.
Nabers put his skills on display immediately. Pat Leonard of The New York Daily News reported Nabers was "open on virtually every 11-on-11 route he ran."
The Giants need the passing offense to be far better than it was in 2023, and getting Nabers acclimated as quickly as possible is the best way to do that.
QB Daniel Jones
During OTAs, it's always best to take everything with a grain of salt. With that said, multiple reports state Jones has looked sharp during his return to football activities. Jones has only participated in 7-on-7 drills, but he also stated he has no doubt he will be ready for Week 1.
Dan Duggan of The Athletic noted that Jones was smooth and sharp during the drills he participated in while the media was viewing practice Thursday.
"Thursday’s seven-on-seven period seemed to be designed to get Jones work without exposing him to the risk of a pass rush in 11-on-11 drills. Jones looked sharp, completing 5 of 6 passes," Duggan wrote.
WR Gunner Olszewski
The special teamer appeared to be active during the portion of practice open to the media Thursday. Duggan noted that he "was the busiest receiver on the day, catching at least one pass from all four quarterbacks during team periods."
Again, it's difficult to know what will translate until the pads come on, but there are a few open spots in the wide receiver room. Olszewski also worked with the kick returners.
