The New York Giants were back on the field for Day 4 of organized team activities (OTA) on Tuesday after the holiday weekend.
Though the media isn't allowed to be at the next practice until Thursday, the team released some takeaways from the day of practice.
The Giants will be next on the field for OTAs on Thursday and Friday before getting another few days off.
Here's a look at some of the biggest takeaways, via the notes from Dan Salomone of the team's website:
Giants OTAs: Takeaways from Day 4
Darius Slayton back?
The Giants' leading receiver in four of the last five seasons was conducting a soft holdout from voluntary practices while he hopes for a new contract. However, photos released from the team included Slayton participating in Tuesday's practice.
That's a big development. Maybe it means the Giants came to an agreement on a new deal for Slayton, or maybe he felt the need to return to the team. Either way, the Giants got the running mate for Malik Nabers back.
Allen Robinson getting reps
The Giants signed the veteran Robinson following the 2024 NFL Draft. Salomone noted that Robinson had the biggest play of the day, but that defensive tackle Ryder Anderson got into the backfield for what would have been a sack in a real game. Either way, it's nice to see some life from the veteran.
Malik Nabers continues to be active
The top pick from Giants' draft class "started the day with the first of a handful of completions from Tommy DeVito," according to Salomone. Nabers has been extremely active to start the offseason workouts as that drum beat continues to get louder for the No. 6 overall pick.
Wide-open TE room
While Slayton seemingly has returned to the field, Darren Waller apparently remains absent as he contemplates retirement. This gives the rest of the room the chance to earn reps. On Tuesday, Lawrence Cager made the most of his reps and was "was a factor on Tuesday with a few receptions from DeVito, including one for a big gain down the middle," according to Salomone.
It was also noted that rookie Theo Johnson got involved with a catch from Drew Lock. It isn't clear if that was in 7-on-7 or 11-on-11 drills, but it's encouraging that he's working higher on the depth chart.
