Entering his sixth year in the NFL, New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones remains one of the more polarizing figures in the league.
Most analysts believe Jones is set up to fail in what seems to be a make-or-break year. Others believe he might be able to find his 2022 form after the Giants made some upgrades.
Scott Kacsmar of 365Scores is certainly in the former group considering his cynical take on a potential breakout for Jones.
The Giants drafted LSU’s Malik Nabers as wide receiver has been a struggle for the team during Jones’ tenure. But counting on your quarterback to have a breakout season in Year 6? Good luck with that.
It has truly been a tale of two halves during the first two seasons under head coach Brian Daboll. During his first season, the Giants proved to be a gritty team with an efficient offense led by Jones, who finally showed some promise.
However, it all came crumbling down in 2023. Injuries and regression hit the Giants hard, and Jones looked far from the efficient, mobile quarterback who led the offense the year prior.
General manager Joe Schoen did make some perceived upgrades to the offensive line, adding veterans Jermaine Eluemunor and Jon Runyan to the unit. The addition of Nabers also should go a long way.
But it's ultimately up to Jones to prove he belongs as the quarterback of the present and future for the Giants.
It seems most analysts are betting against Jones taking that leap.
