The New York Giants had a smaller haul than usual in the 2024 NFL Draft, exiting the offseason's biggest weekend with six selections.
While athletic testing isn't everything, it does play a role in a prospect's draft stock. Elite athletes also have a higher chance of reaching their ceilings as players.
There are many ways to quantify athleticism. For the purpose of this article, we'll be focusing solely on Relative Athletic Score (RAS), which is a measurement of a player’s athletic testing in relation to both size and historic results. Each individual measurement is graded on a scale of 0-10 (10 being the highest).
2024 NFL Draft: How athletic is Giants' class?
In terms of RAS, the Giants fared pretty well. Their six-player draft class ranked 19th in the NFL with an average score of 7.826. The biggest issue was Tyler Nubin's testing, which was abysmal. However, Nubin's tape is far superior to his testing numbers.

The Giants didn't draft many players, and while they took 4 elite tier athletes, they took a risk with Tyler Nubin (a top rated safety who tested very poorly), you can forgive taking Muasau late since late picks are worth far less. pic.twitter.com/IHWcxvFqeW
First-round wide receiver Malik Nabers is an elite athlete with impressive speed and explosiveness. Meanwhile, the additions of tight end Theo Johnson and running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. should add plenty more athleticism to the Giants offense.
Meanwhile, third-round cornerback Andru Phillips posted a 4.48 in the 40-yard dash, a 42-inch vertical and an 11-foot-3-inch broad jump.
