The world will get a lot more acquainted with the Giants this summer.
NFL Films and HBO announced Wednesday that the Giants are the featured team for a new version of heralded documentary series, "Hard Knocks." The season will premiere on July 2 on Max, air on Tuesdays and conclude on July 30.
"'Hard Knocks: Offseason with the New York Giants' will bring viewers inside the New York Giants organization as the team prepares for their highly anticipated 100th season," the NFL wrote in a statement. "Camera crews will chronicle the team's every move as general manager Joe Schoen and other members of the team's front office and staff navigate the critical offseason period from January to July 2024, from the NFL Scouting Combine to free agency, to the NFL Draft and team minicamps."
Unlike previous seasons, this one will revolve around the Giants' offseason instead of training camp. This means the documentary will highlight everything that happened around the Giants from the end of their 2023 season through the offseason until July but won't include training cam
"As we enter our 100th season, we look forward to providing our fans with the opportunity to see what it takes to build an NFL roster," Nilay Shah, Giants senior vice president of marketing and brand strategy, said. "Beginning the moment the previous season ended, we gave NFL Films unprecedented access to this critical time of the year. We know viewers will gain insight from moments that have never been captured before and are excited for them to learn more about our Giants history."
Here are some possible storylines the season will cover:
- Losing Saquon Barkley in free agency
- Trading for Brian Burns
- The 2024 NFL Combine
- Rumors around drafting a quarterback
- Taking wide receiver Malik Nabers with the No. 6 overall pick
- The rest of the 2024 NFL draft class
- Rookie minicamp
- Signing WR Allen Robinson
- 2024 schedule release
One thing that likely won't be discussed is the parting of ways with defensive coordinator Wink Martindale. He and head coach Brian Daboll reportedly butted heads and that might be something the team wouldn't want publicized.
This is also a stark departure from Giants co-owner John Mara's stance on "Hard Knocks." He said back in 2010 that he'd never be apart of the show unless he was no longer alive.
