The New York Giants will be relying on several young players in 2024, including a handful from the 2023 draft class.
While much of the focus will be on the impressive haul the Giants got in 2024, Big Blue needs to see some development from some players entering their second season.
Here are four Giants who are ready to make a jump in Year 2:
New York Giants: 3 players ready for Year 2 jump
1. CB Deonte Banks
The 2023 first-round pick showed plenty of flashes throughout his rookie campaign. He has the attitude and talent to be a premier cornerback in the league, and his development will be key to a suspect secondary in East Rutherford. Banks recorded two interceptions, 11 passes defensed and 64 tackles (53 solo) in 15 starts. He also allowed a solid 84.7 passer rating in coverage, according to Pro Football Focus.
2. C John Michael Schmitz
The Giants' second-round pick in 2023, Schmitz's development will be key for the offense. He had some flashes, but he needs to be more consistent than he was during his rookie season. According to Pro Football Focus, Schmitz allowed five sacks and 30 total pressures in 2023.
3. WR Jalin Hyatt
All eyes will be on the new star in the wide receiver room, Malik Nabers, but Hyatt has a chance to take advantage of some opportunities downfield. Hopefully, the Giants will try to take more shots downfield because that's Hyatt's specialty. The Tennessee product didn't find the end zone, but he did average 16.2 yards per reception with a 20.7 average depth of target, according to PFF.
