Backup Jets quarterback Mike White led the NFL with 405 passing yards in Week 8 on top of leading his team to a 34-31 victory over the Bengals on Sunday. This was something not many people expected White to do in only his second NFL game.
One New Jersey bettor had faith in White, though. He placed a $1,000 bet on White with 125-1 odds while at an Atlantic City casino over the weekend. He briefly considered choosing a safer option with Patrick Mahomes but apparently didn't like his odds. He decided correctly, as Mahomes only threw for 275 yards on Monday night.
Because White did have the most passing yards this week, the anonymous bettor will take home $125,000.

The bettor actually attended the Jets vs. Bengals game on Sunday to cheer for his bet to come true. He admitted that he decided to bet on the game because he was going to be in attendance; he wanted something "fun" to watch.
"I just thought it would be fun to have something to root for while I was there," the bettor said, via ESPN. "The Jets are just so terrible that I figured they'd be behind the whole game and have to throw the ball a bunch, so it seemed like a good bet."

When White left briefly during the third quarter after a collision with an offensive lineman, the bettor started to get nervous that White wouldn't retun to the game. But, because he sat close to the field in the fourth row on the Bengals side, the bettor was able to keep an eye on White while he only missed one drive.
WHO IS MIKE WHITE? Jets' QB to start ahead of Joe Flacco, injured Zach Wilson
"As soon as he came back in, I got pretty excited," the bettor said. "My bet was back to life."
Before the Monday night game between the Chiefs and Giants, the bettor put his slip on PropSwap, where he could try to sell his pending wager. He placed it at $120,000, but the highest bidder was only $70,000.
MORE: Why Robert Saleh's comments on Mike White's Jets future mean nothing
Zach Wilson, the starting Jets QB, is still dealing with his PCL sprain and his return is uncertain at the moment, coach Robert Saleh said. As long as Wilson remains out, White will be the Jets' starting quarterback.
No surprise after today, but Jets’ HC Robert Saleh says Mike White will start at QB on Thursday vs. the Colts.
