Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Tyler Lockett may have shut the door with his one-handed catch and running back Zach Charbonnet may have scored the winning touchdown. However, the victory for the Seahawks today belonged to their rookie head coach Mike Macdonald and his new-look defense, which performed incredibly well compared to what we have come to expect from this unit in recent years.
As expected, Seattle's defense frustrated and confused Denver Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix, who completed just 26 of 42 pass attempts, totaled just 138 passing yards, threw no touchdowns and two interceptions. His final passer rating was just 47.5. The Seahawks also did a solid job defending the run if you exclude one 23-yard scramble from Nix.
As is appropriate, starting quarterback Geno Smith handed Macdonald the game ball after today's 26-20 win. Here's what Macdonald told reporters afterwards about his first win as an NFL head coach.

For his second act, Macdonald and the Seahawks will travel to take on the New England Patriots next week.
