The Miami Dolphins were dealt a huge blow last week when veteran edge rusher Shaquil Barrett decided to retire from the NFL to spend more time with his family. Now, the Dolphins are exploring their options to replace him.
According to Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team, the Dolphins will host veteran pass-rushers Yannick Ngakoue and Emmanuel Ogbah for workouts on Monday. They are two of the best edge rushers left on the open market by far.
Dolphins fans are already quite familiar with Ogbah, who spent the past four seasons with Miami before he was cut earlier this offseason. Outside of a 2022 campaign in which he dealt with injury and missed eight games, Ogbah was productive, tallying nine sacks in 2020 and 2021, and five sacks in a limited role in 2023.
Ngakoue spent the 2023 season with the Chicago Bears, where he totaled four sacks in 13 games played. In the two seasons prior, the veteran edge rusher had a combined 19.5 sacks over 32 games with the Las Vegas Raiders and Indianapolis Colts.

At this late stage in the offseason, the Dolphins could certainly do a lot worse than Ngakoue and Ogbah. Either one would be an ideal addition considering the circumstances.
