Martellus Bennett was a second-round draft pick by the Cowboys, but he hardly saw the field as All-Pro tight end Jason Witten took the spotlight. In a revealing E:60 feature that aired Wednesday night, Bennett said he "hated" Witten.
"Witten didn't talk to me when I was in Dallas. He didn't help me," Martellus Bennett said on the program. "Very rarely did we talk. He didn't teach me nothing. He didn't help me out. There was times I asked him stuff and he'd be like, 'Figure it out.' I hated him. I hated Witten."
When asked about his former teammate Thursday, Witten decided to take the high road.
"Busy schedule, I'll make sure to get around to that real quick to see it," Witten said about the program. "I did hear about it. Marty is a good player. He really is. He enjoys entertaining, but I'm glad he's in a good place now and he's having a good year so far. He is. He's a good football player."

When asked if he was entertained by Bennett's comments, Witten responded by laughing and saying, "Come on guys."
Part of Bennett's comments comes from a place of frustration due to his years in Dallas. He wasn't a right fit there and, as he said in the E:60 interview, he considered retiring after his third year because he was "tired of the bulls—."
To his credit, he did compliment Witten's skills in a roundabout way.
"He can't run like me, he can't jump like me," Bennett said with a smile, "but how does he keep getting open?"
