Marquise Goodwin won't be ending his NFL career any time soon, laying to rest an April Fool's Day joke that he will leave the Bills for track and field.
Goodwin, a two-time NCAA long jump champion at Texas, took part in the annual Texas Relays. He ran the 100 meters but didn't enter the long jump. He does intend to train and try to qualify for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio.
Leaving the NFL? Suckers fell for what Goodwin, a wide receiver, called a "play on words" and an April Fools' Day joke from his Twitter account. "Football is my deal," Goodwin said later. "Track is my fun."

Goodwin qualified for the U.S. Olympic team as a long jumper in 2012 and competed in London. However, the 2016 Summer Games will conflict with the Bills preseason preparation.
The 2016 season is the last one on Goodwin's Bills contract. He was a Bills third-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft after setting the third-fastest time in NFL Combine history with a 4.27 40-yard dash. Goodwin is primarily used as a returner and has 20 career receptions for 349 yards and three touchdowns over his three seasons.
U.S. track and field qualifying is scheduled for July in Oregon. The Rio Games begin Aug. 5 and run through Aug. 21. The Bills' first preseason game is July 30. Training camp begins about two weeks earlier.
