Hold me close, tiny dancer...
Another iteration of Madden is on the horizon, and that brings with it a whole lot of new. New animations, new game modes, a new soundtrack and, obviously, new celebrations.
As a concept, the touchdown dance has been revamped and revitalized over the years. Gone are the days of the Fun Bunch's high-five celebration and the rigidity of the "Ickey Shuffle." In its stead are intricately choreographed dance numbers adorned with all sorts of pizzazz. It all feels like a burlesque show at times; all we need are the sequins and flowing outfits to match.
It may seem hard to fathom a video game recreating such a frenzied atmosphere. EA Sports will try to in its latest football simulation. And that should be reflected in such powerhouse moves as the Griddy.

Here's what you need to know about celebrations in Madden 24.
Madden 24 celebrations
Can you do the Griddy in Madden 24?
Is that even a question? Of course you can do the Griddy in Madden 24!
The hallmark of any good wide receiver's highlight tape is the Griddy. Justin Jefferson and Ja'Marr Chase know better than most, having punctuated nearly every score with the Soul Train-esque tangling of legs.
As such, it's been included in Madden 24.
As was the case in last year's version, it seems the move has been tabbed a signature celebration. That means users must hold the left trigger and push the right stick down after finding the end zone.
Check out the antics here:
Here's the catch, though: it appears to be a signature move only for Jefferson and Chase. D.J. Chark, another LSU alum well-versed in Griddy-ology, had the ensemble zapped from his player's tendencies in 2023, it seems.
How to do a celebration in Madden 24
Madden 24 features perhaps its most extensive touchdown celebration category in the game's history. You want to frolic in the meadow with your teammates after a big play? You got it. How about Jaylen Waddle's penguin dance or Lamar Jackson and the Kodak Bop? Well, that's there too.
The specific celebration each player employs is dependent on just which direction the user flicks their right joystick in. The controls are slightly different to last year's release, with prompts indicating just what each player has in their locker after they break the plane of the end zone:
- Flex: Right stick left
- Dance: Right stick up
- Spike/crowd celebration: Right stick right
- Signature/team celebration: Right stick down
How to showboat in Madden 24
Touchdowns are nice. But hot-dogging is better, Preempting a lengthy trot to the end zone with a bit of showboating is one of the riskiest, but most rewarding, maneuvers in all of sport. So you know Madden had to give players a chance to attempt it themselves.
Madden 24 features the same controls for showboating as 23; users must hold both back buttons on the controller, plus X (for Playstation) and A (for Xbox) to pull off the heist of their opposition's confidence.
Action | Playstation | Xbox |
---|---|---|
Showboat | L2 + R2 + X | LT + RT + A |
Now, go on! Enjoy your prancing and waltzing. Just make sure you do it without anyone in your local vicinity. Nothing is more embarrassing than falling on your face at the goal line.
