Chargers vs. Steelers results: Score, highlights from Sunday night game in Pittsburgh image

The Chargers pulled out a crucial victory on the road in Pittsburgh to keep pace with the Chiefs in the AFC West race.

Los Angeles (9-3) trailed 23-7 at halftime before scoring 23 unanswered points to take a 30-23 lead in in the fourth quarter.

Pittsburgh (7-4-1) tied the game on a 10-yard touchdown from Ben Roethlisberger to Jaylen Samuels with 4:10 left in the game. Philip Rivers then led the Chargers 64 yards down the field to set up a game-winning field goal attempt with three seconds left.

The Steelers were called for back-to-back offsides penalties on LA kicker Mike Badgley's first two attempts. Badgley was able to connect on the third attempt to give the Chargers the 33-30 win.

11:32 p.m.: FIELD GOAL CHARGERS. Badgley drills a game-winning, 29-yard field goal despite the Steelers being offsides, again. Chargers win 33-30.

11:31 p.m.: Badgley misses the field goal, but Pittsburgh is offsides. The next kick is then blocked, but Pittsburgh's offsides again.

11:27 p.m.: Rivers has marched the Chargers into field-goal range. They're at the Pittsburgh 23-yard line with 21 seconds to go. 

11:26 p.m.: Injury updates for Pittsburgh:

11:22 p.m.: We're at the 2-minute warning and the Chargers have the ball at their own 49-yard line with three timeouts left. Pittsburgh has two timeouts left.

11:16 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN STEELERS. Jaylen Samuels catches a 10-yard pass from Roethlisberger and runs it in to tie the game. Game tied 30-30.

11:14 p.m.: James Connor is down with an injury for Pittsburgh.

11:09 p.m.: The ruling on the field stands and the Steelers go for it on fourth down and convert. 

11:05 p.m.: The Steelers face a fourth-and-inches near midfield with just under six minutes left in the game. Pittsburgh's challenging the ruling on the field that the runner was down before the line of scrimmage. 

10:56 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN CHARGERS. The Steelers punt it back to the Chargers. They then go 79 yards down the field in just seven plays to take the lead on an 18-yard touchdown run by Justin Jackson. That's 23-unanswered points by LA. Chargers lead 30-23.

10:41 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN CHARGERS. LA's Desmond King returns the punt 73 yards for the touchdown. Chargers' 2-point attempt is good. Game tied 23-23.

10:39 p.m.: Steelers are forced to punt at the start of the fourth quarter.

End of third quarter: Steelers 23, Chargers 15

10:26 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN CHARGERS. Rivers caps of a 12-play, 78-yard drive with a 10-yard touchdown pass that was tipped and then corralled by Allen. Rivers then completes the 2-point conversion to Antonio Gates to pull within one possession. Steelers lead 23-15.

10:13 p.m.: The Chargers force the Steelers to punt on their opening drive of the second half. 

10:05 p.m.: Pittsburgh will receive the second-half kickoff.

Halftime: Steelers 23, Chargers 7

9:49 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN STEELERS. Roethlisberger finds Brown for a 28-yard touchdown with 17 seconds left in the half. Brown now has six catches for 117 yards and one touchdown. Steelers lead 23-7. 

9:41 p.m.: Steelers get the ball with 1:35 left until the half. They'll try and put some more points on the board before getting ball to start the second half.

9:33 p.m.: FIELD GOAL STEELERS. Pittsburgh's able to turn the blocked punt into points on a 48-yard field goal by Chris Boswell. Steelers lead 16-7.

9:28 p.m.: A punt by the Chargers is blocked by the Steelers and only travels about 20 yards before it's recovered by Pittsburgh. 

9:23 p.m.: After the interception, the Chargers and Steelers trade punts. Just over five minutes to go until the half.

9:10 p.m.: INTERCEPTION CHARGERS. Roethlisberger falls under pressure and lobs one up and it's intercepted by LA's Derwin James who returns it 36-yard to the LA 44-yard line. LA's Melvin Ingram is flagged for an illegal block in the back on the return. Chargers take over at their own 21-yard line.

9:03 p.m.: Steelers start the second quarter with the ball at their own 38-yard line.

End of first quarter: Steelers 13, Chargers 7

8:56 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN CHARGERS. It takes just six plays for LA to respond with a 46-yard touchdown from Rivers to Travis Benjamin. It looks like LA got away with a false start on the play as the officials didn't throw a flag. Steelers lead 13-7.

8:48 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN STEELERS. A defensive pass interference penalty on LA's Michael Davis in the end zone gives the Steelers the ball as the LA 1-yard line. Connor runs in his second touchdown on the night two plays later. PAT is no good. Steelers lead 13-0.

8:38 p.m.: Pittsburgh's Terrell Edumunds sacks Rivers for a loss of 12 yards on second-and-7. Rivers' pass to Keenan Allen falls incomplete on third down and LA is forced to punt.

8:32 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN STEELERS. On the third offensive play of the game for Pittsburgh, Ben Roethlisberger hits Antonio Brown for a 46-yard gain down to the LA 1-yard line. James Connor then punches it in from one yard out on the next play. Steelers lead 7-0.

8:28 p.m.: MISSED FIELD GOAL CHARGERS. Rivers drives the Chargers 41 yards down the field to set up a 52-yard field goal by Mike Badgley. He slips just past the outside of the left upright. Game tied 0-0.

8:21 p.m.: Steelers win the toss and they deferred. Chargers will start with the ball at their own 25-yard line after the touchback.
