The Packers (4-1) already have wins against the Bears and Vikings through five weeks of the NFL season. They will look to open 3-0 against the NFC North when they host the Lions (2-1-1) at Lambeau Field on "Monday Night Football" (8:15 p.m. ET, ESPN).
Green Bay is coming off a big win in Dallas, while Detroit is coming off a bye following a narrow home loss to Kansas City. Aaron Rodgers is getting plenty of help from his running game and defense to lead the Packers. Matthew Stafford is boosting his running game and defense to lift the Lions.
That combination of surprising starts makes for a compelling Week 7 division matchup.

Betting odds for Lions vs. Packers
- Spread: Packers by 3.5
- Point total: 46
- Odds: Lions -105, Packers -105
The Packers have been hovering around field-goal favorites since the initial lines. They basically get a skosh more than home-field advantage in their favor.
Lions vs. Packers all-time series
The Packers have a commanding 100-72-7 lead overall, but the Lions have swept the series over the past two seasons for a four-game winning streak. The Lions scored 30 or more points in all those victories, including a 31-0 shutout last December in Lambeau Field. The Packers will try to restore order after previously winning four of five meetings from December '14 through January '17.
Three trends to know
— 58 percent of bettors are on the Packers to cover their small number at home as the better all-around team.
— With Rodgers and Stafford plus their talented offensive skill supporting cast, 58 percent of bettors also like the game to go over the point total.
— The Packers have covered in all four of their victories. The Lions have covered the spread in three straight after tying to open the season.
Three things to watch
Kerryon Johnson vs. Packers' run defense
The Packers have been a great pass defense, bolstered by the edge pass rush of Za'Darius Smith and Preston Smith and backed by the coverage of cornerbacks Jaire Alexander and Kevin King. But they are fundamentally weak against the run, ranked No. 26 in the NFL. The Lions want to be a better running team, and Johnson, their second-year back, is well rested. He can be the key to the Lions both staying in and winning the game.
Aaron Jones vs. Lions' run defense
Jones has been red-hot as the Packers' feature back, and will be backed again by a healthy Jamaal Williams. The Lions have been better than expected against the pass and are No. 20 against the run. There's reason for Green Bay to also stay grounded to set up its quarterback..There are plenty of carries to go around for coach Matt LaFleur.
Matt vs. Matt
Offensive-minded LaFleur is having a great rookie season as the Packers' head coach, while defensive-minded Matt Patricia has enjoyed a strong rebound season as the Lions' sophomore leader. They have been good young motivators and expect both teams to play hard and well on Monday night.

Stat that matters
The Packers are plus-7 in turnover margin this season, trailing only the Patriots, who are at plus-9. The Lions also have been protecting the ball, at a healthy plus-2. Green Bay will be looking to force takeaways with different pressure looks. It will be harder for Detroit to do so against Rodgers, who rarely turns over the ball at home.
Lions vs. Packers prediction
The Packers don't have wide receiver Davante Adams again, which will cause them to be a bit creative with the passing game around Rodgers and more focused on getting rushing success. Stafford will do his best to spread the ball and be efficient as well with Johnson and his talented wideouts, Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones. In the end, Rodgers will pass Green Bay to a lead while Stafford makes a little interesting in the fourth quarter before Aaron Jones plays closer
Packers 30, Lions 23
