The Detroit Lions were reportedly one of at least a handful of teams to show some interest in free-agent wide receiver Tyler Boyd.

According to Mark Kaboly of The Athletic, the Lions showed "preliminary interest" in the former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver, who remains available on the open market.

Boyd has at least had preliminary interest from the Chiefs, Chargers, Dolphins, Lions and 49ers. I am pretty sure the ship with the Steelers has sailed.

Detroit's wide receivers room recently took a hit when Josh Reynolds, who finished second at the position in receiving yards last season, signed a two-year deal with the Denver Broncos.

With his departure, the Lions are going to need more out of Jameson Williams and it wouldn't be at all surprising to see Detroit supplement the room, whether that be through free agency or the draft.

Boyd does his work out of the slot, but the Lions already have plenty of guys who can line up there, including one of the best in the business in Amon-Ra St. Brown. Detroit needs a more traditional outside receiver instead.
