In a new mock draft from ESPN, the Detroit Lions address two of their biggest needs with their first two picks in the 2024 NFL draft.
The mock comes from ESPN's Field Yates, who has the Lions taking Iowa defensive back Cooper DeJean at No. 29 overall, and then Washington wide receiver Ja'Lynn Polk at No. 61 overall.
DeJean would be a solid selection to fill Detroit's need at the cornerback position, which became more prominent following the release of veteran Cam Sutton.
The 6-foot, 203-pound defensive back offers versatility with his ability to play safety, and he can contribute on special teams as a returner and/or gunner.
Polk checks the box for the wide receiver the Lions need in the wake of veteran wideout Josh Reynolds leaving in free agency to the Denver Broncos.
The 6-foot-1, 203-pound receiver hasn't shown the kind of speed to be a deep threat but creates separation with plus route-running and really shines in contested catch situations, making him an ideal fit as a boundary receiver.
