The Detroit Lions upgraded their cornerbacks room this offseason with the trade for Carlton Davis, but questions still remain about who is going to start opposite him.

The loss of Cameron Sutton certainly complicated things. Detroit added Amik Robertson in free agency and re-signed Emmanuel Moseley, but neither are a sure thing to lock down the CB2 spot.

Knowing that, Pro Football Focus' Max Chadwick has the Lions adding Alabama cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry at No. 29 overall in his latest mock draft. Here's his take on the selection:

Even after adding Carlton Davis III and Amik Robertson this offseason, the Lions could stand to improve their cornerback room.

While he’s not an elite athlete like the cornerbacks who went before him, McKinstry still deserves to be in the CB1 conversation. His 91.5 PFF grade from 2022 to 2023 ranked fourth among college football cornerbacks.

The Lions have expressed interest in McKinstry, with the team reportedly hosting him for a 30 visit last week.

The Alabama product is one of the best cornerbacks in this year's class and would immediately provide competition for Robertson and Moseley, and it's very conceivable he could win the job outright.

He figures to be in range for the Lions at the end of the first round and they should pounce and if he's still on the board when Detroit is on the clock.
